Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon

Mike Myers makes an excellent directorial debut in this tribute bio-pic. It’s an incredibly entertaining portrait of a remarkable life infused with plenty of humour and fun.

The only drawback is that it plays a little too much like a Valentine to Shep. In fact, I’d be shocked if the film wasn’t designed as an elaborate personal ad. Perhaps excessive promotion for a man who spent his life promoting others is poetic, but it leaves the film a little unbalanced.
